Photographer
My professional photography work has been focused in recent years on stage photography, especially dance photography, but also portraiture and editorial and corporate photography.
I borrow from analog photography the slow, reflective process, focusing on the details, but without abandoning the advantages and language of digital photography.
I approach photography with an open mind, adapting to what I observe to build a coherent discourse.
For me photography is research, search and knowledge.
I have worked for the specialized dance magazines Por la Danza and Susy Q and I am a regular contributor to the digital media specialized in dance, Unblogdedanza.com by Mercedes L. Caballero.
Since 2003 he has been carrying out photographic work, both stage and studio photography for the promotion of his productions, for the Larumbe Danza company and since 2013 for the Aracaladanza company.
I have also worked for companies such as Compañía de Danza Antonio Ruz, Kirilov-Akiyama Dance Project, Víctor Ullate Ballet, Teresa Nieto en company, 10&10 Danza, Provisional Danza, Trasdanza, Dual Dance (Amsterdam), Espacio Alterno (Caracas), among others.
Between 2015 and 2019 I have been a photographer for the Víctor Ullate Dance School and since 2015 for the Larumbe Danza workshops, organized by the Objective Dance Association in Coslada.
I have been the official photographer of the Gesto Festival: Street Dance Festival in Torrelodones since 2015 and of the Tetuán District Choreographic Contest, in the 2014 and 2015 editions.
I have photographed personalities from the world of dance such as Nacho Duato, Cesc Gelabert, Ohad Naharín, Mats Ek, Ana Laguna, Angelín Preljocat, Victor Ullate, Blanca Li, Antonio Márquez, Carmen Werner, José Carlos Martínez, Juan Kruz de Garaioesnaola, Itzik Galili, Teresa Nieto and Ángel Corella, among others.
My editorial work has been published in magazines such as Quo, Cinemanía, Neo2, El Duende, Elle, Ballet Tanz (Berlín), El País newspaper, among others.
My scenic work has been exhibited at Teatro Lagrada, Casa de cultura de Torrelodones, La Caja del Arte: Center for Performing Arts of Torrejón de Ardoz, Teatro Valle Inclán of the National Dramatic Center of Madrid, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Caja Burgos, Centro Cultural Conde Duque de Madrid, Margarita Nelken Cultural Center in Coslada and the Echegaray and Cervantes Theaters in Málaga.
My personal work has been exhibited in the Casa de Vacas del Parque del Retiro, Madrid, Picassomio/Diurno Art Space, EFTI International Center for Photography and Video, Roberto Mata Photography Workshop Exhibition Hall in Caracas, Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas , Neumann Design Institute in Caracas, Venezuela and First Valparaíso Contemporary Photography Biennial in Chile.
I have shared my work as a photographer with teaching photography in various schools in Caracas (Roberto Mata Photography School, CONAC Photography Center). Teaching specialized courses in ancient techniques and history of photography and I have been a photography teacher in the graphic design, industrial design and illustration courses at the Caracas Design Institute between 1994 and 2001.
